christmas tour

oh my goodness! how did this get here already? i have been planning and thinking and mentally making my post and then all of the sudden this morning when i was blogging about something totally not this i realized that OH MY GOODNESS today is the tour and i have no pictures ready to go. that and my lil monkey man is home with diarrhea and also happens to be trying to take apart my camera right now as we speak... i've got work to do, and i have to wait till tonight to do it because i want to include my lights, one of my favorite parts, and it has to be dark for that. sigh. it will happen. it will get done. in fact for all of you- you will get to simply continue to scroll down and see my tour. even if its posted at midnight. but i HAD to add this part. the 9am part. breath, just breath. ok.

you know that christmas song with the lyrics, " oh i need a little christmas, right this very minute." well that's how we decorate- if you need a little christmas, just look around. there is a little christmas everywhere. seriously. its not all fancy and fabulous but it is heartfelt. enjoy your tour!

these are our very vintage elves on the shelf- if you are familiar with that children's story, they report to santa and can magically move around your house- catching good behavior!

our nutcrackers watch over the house from high above

we got this tree last year- i really wanted it- its says the hensey's up top... but we never put pictures in it...

my sick monkey man and his horse, who of course has on a christmas hat!

this is the mantle- all of our stockings are hung with care- there is a new one this year for our kitten mr. lilly. also i have displayed all the years of christmas pictures (they are not always in frames, but my frames get re purposed this time of year.)
our tree, in a new corner as we have re-arranged our living room since last year

each year i get some new ornaments to remind me of the kids from this year- this is henry's. ignore the 1st christmas together part... its just that he so loves mickey mouse this year... and he really liked this ornament of him.

this is stella's ornament from this year- yes i know both kids are in a disney phase. for stella its all things princess and her most favorite is tinker bell.

this one is for walt- he is as always a die hard peanuts fan. when he was little he had a linus blanket. this reminded me of him bc in the christmas special linus wears his blanket as his shepperd's hat.

this one is mine- i always add our family to our tree...because to me that's what my christmas is all about.

we just got these super cute candy cane toppers- i had to put fake candy canes in them because our kids kept eating the real ones- henry even scaled the rocking chair to get them. not so much with the plastic ones.

stella made this last year, its one of our favorites.

on the top of the tree we keep handmade *fragile* and antique ornaments- my grandmother divided up all of hers from over 50 years ago when my grandfather and her got their first tree...the ones i have are up here.

my nativity from ten thousand villages. love it!

we even re-do our living room shelves with little christmas odds and ends.

this is a vintage candle holder set- but i never put candles in them
and a few more odds and ends along with my kids day they were born pics
this is a music box from when i was a little girl- i bought it myself when i was about 8 years old. when you wind it the little bear skates around the rink. this is now one of stella and henry's favorites.
some hand made stockings from my great aunt bonnie
dining room flair
our little village

santa gave this to henry last year- this year henry is a little more aggressive and so the slinky santa had to go up high- but we love him in our dining room! i also want to point out the palm cross left over from easter-

this is our kitchen angel- she one of the christmas things that i leave out all year long- we always need a little help in the kitchen!

ha ha this is what my stove looks like the entire season... here are some applesauce cakes waiting to be wrapped- we give applesauce cakes to all of our teachers and neighbors for christmas.

this is new this year- a little people magnetic manger AND advent calender. we add a new magnet each day... and we talk about why we actually celebrate christmas. love it!

here you see stella's new tree, our baby sized christmas hat that this year our sugar dispenser is wearing as i don't have a baby head to stick it on...next year i will! and our picture from last year.
stella made this christmas tree in school this year as a surprise for me

all of these are handmade from the ceramic shop some by me, some by my grandmother, some by my great aunt jean... they live here on our side board every christmas

we put jingle bells on just about anything that will jingle... both doors in our hallway jingle!

charile brown is one of our most favorite holiday specials... we had to hang this up high this year as stella thought we should color in the white parts- since we agreed to disagree i wanted to make sure she couldn't reach it and color it in.

this is the bag that we keep cards in from christmas' past it has every card that we have received since walt and i were dating. i have no real place that i display the current cards- they get dispersed. but i may take a page out of BooMama's book and get a card tree.

our entry table, we got this ceramic tree last year on freecycle...i grew up in a ceramic studio, which unfortunately closed before i was interested in having my own trees, so this was a super happy score for me! also we cut this eucalyptus from our bush that thinks its a tree.

this shelf lives in our living room when the tree isn't in its place- but it makes a good corner cabinet in the dining room too!

this was mine in a past life- and i LOVE IT- i sanded off some old names to update my family, and my two children whom are smaller than our dogs are that way because i sanded the ears off of what used to be my cats. now that we are expecting again i need another character. this was purchased in lancaster, pa. if anyone knows how i can get another one, even a completely new one please comment!

this is my ever changing art wall- the kiddos bring home so much from preschool and this is how i showcase it. as you can see christmas has crept its way up there too!

this year stella has gotten in the spirit in her room too-

one of our most favorite christmas books on stella's dresser, we read a lot before bed

stella arranges all her christmas animals on this couch. i straighten them and she um re-straightens them. this is her set up...hopefully obviously

this is the tree in stella's room, it has mini ornaments, and the card from the efinger's she really likes these girls and so it migrated to her room...a lot of missing things have been found in her room lately.

a christmas 'noodle head' in stella's dress up

even suggie has on her christmas dress- it has red and green polka spots.

and i apologize- no lights- we blew a fuse on the porch. so i waited for dark to finish for nought. maybe next year. come on back!

i'll leave you with some fab. holiday pictures and our holiday card!
